We have very bright minds who have achieved excellent results using Gii for the detection of various Heavy Metals, and we are looking for someone to take it to the next level of detection. For this reason, it is essential that there is a demonstration of not only technical expertise, but also a collaborative mindset developed in an industrial setting, as well as:
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have gained through advanced education, (PhD or specialist Masters) and/or relevant industry experience, a core knowledge and understanding of electrochemistry principles.
You will be able to demonstrate through recent industry experience (this could be within a spin‐out, early‐stage, or mature commercially oriented organisation):
* Proven hands‐on experience with electrochemical heavy metal detection.
* Significant experience contributing to R&D projects involving:
o Application and evaluation of electrochemical techniques within a sensor development environment using low concentration of analytes.
o Developing sensors/nanotechnology for heavy metal detection.
o Innovation and problem‐solving in experimental design and execution
* Knowledge of voltametric techniques such as ASV, SWV, DPV, CV, LSV.
* A track record of translating research into commercially viable products or solutions and delivering projects that meet commercial and regulatory requirements.
Technical and scientific skills required for R&D in a commercial context
* Strong ability to design, execute and interpret complex experiments with a rigorous and methodical approach.
* Solid understanding of GLP and standard laboratory techniques and practices, and experience working within a regulatory environment.
* Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to internal reviews or external collaborations.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional development and scientific curiosity.
Additional Desirable Experience
* Prior experience in electroplating or electrodeposition could be advantageous for this role.
* Familiarity with scaling up processes from laboratory to pilot scale, including supporting commercialisation efforts.
* Awareness of IP generation and protection processes.
* Demonstrated ability to lead projects or mentor junior scientists in an industrial setting.
What you will do
Key responsibilities include:
* Collaborate and innovate with colleagues in R&D and Engineering on the development of products and processes for several applications. The focus will be on developing real‐world viable solutions utilising established industry methods and materials.
* Develop novel methodologies and process optimisation routes relevant to heavy metal sensing.
* Performance assessment and benchmarking against SPEs and Au electrodes.
* Preparation and optimisation of a range of buffer solutions suitable for heavy metal sensing.
* Run accumulation and stripping experiments using appropriate electrochemical techniques with optimised parameters.
* Detection of heavy metal ions using Gii electrodes from ppm to ppb range.
* Rigorous experiment and data management: experimental execution, analysis and interpretation must be credible, defensible to drive product development from concept to scale‐up.
* Prepare high‐quality technical documentation including standard operating procedures and reports.
* Staying up to date with current trends in Heavy Metal Sensing through routine review of scientific literature.
* Support and mentor other development scientists and the wider team with delivery of key performance parameters as defined by the Company goal‐setting process.
