About the Role
* Lead Assessment of Major and Complex Development Applications: Leverage expertise to guide high-profile development projects from initial assessment through to finalization.
* Represent Council as an Expert Witness: Provide authoritative testimony in court proceedings, utilizing deep knowledge of environmental planning laws.
* Mentor and Guide Development Assessment Staff: Foster growth among team members by sharing experience and best practices.
* Ensure Statutory Compliance and Contribute to Planning Policy Enhancements: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine policies that promote sustainable development.
* Attend Planning Panels and Prepare High-Quality Reports and Advice: Communicate complex planning concepts to stakeholders, ensuring effective decision-making.
* Improve Planning Processes and Systems for Efficiency and Quality: Apply analytical skills to optimize workflow, minimizing errors and enhancing productivity.
In This Role, You Will Also Have the Opportunity to:
* Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or a related field.
* Extensive NSW development assessment experience.
* Deep knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
* Experience as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court.
* Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and mediation skills.
* Ability to prioritize and solve complex planning challenges.
* A collaborative, proactive approach to improvement.
