About the Role
We are supporting a leading renewable energy developer in the search for a Senior Project Engineer to join their Melbourne-based team.
This is a unique opportunity to work on utility‑scale BESS and solar projects at the early stages of development helping shape electrical designs, technical strategies, and project readiness prior to construction.
This role is non‑site‑based and ideal for an engineer who enjoys the front‑end technical and development side of renewable projects, with a focus on feasibility, grid connection, and early‑stage electrical planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate electrical design and technical input for early‑stage BESS and solar projects.
- Conduct feasibility assessments, conceptual designs, and grid connection studies to support project development.
- Liaise with internal teams and external consultants on electrical engineering, network requirements, and design standards.
- Prepare and review technical documentation for connection applications, regulatory submissions, and project approvals.
- Support the development team in defining technical strategies, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
- Work closely with commercial, grid, and project delivery teams to ensure a smooth transition from development to execution.
About You
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience in the renewable energy or power sector, with strong exposure to BESS and / or solar projects.
- Proven experience in early‑stage project development, grid connection studies, and electrical planning.
- Solid understanding of NEM requirements, network studies, and connection processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Passionate about driving the transition to clean energy through innovative and technically sound project development.
