Water Treatment Specialist

* Reporting to the Water Treatment Plant Process Engineer, you will provide technical support for the day-to-day requirements of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and Arsenic Removal Unit (ARU) operations.
">

The role involves data collection, testing, analysing and evaluating process performance. You will be responsible for reviewing plant chemistry and reporting on daily performance, managing maintenance records and directing sampling and review of data.

">

You will assist the process engineer in investigating plant performance improvements and reviewing chemical usage for optimal plant performance. Additionally, you will ensure that all operations are carried out safely and in accordance with company safety policies and work procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

">
">
* Report on plant performance as required by WTP Process Engineer and line Manager.
">
* Review and report on plant chemistry and plant performance.
">
* Manage electrical and mechanical maintenance records.
">
* Direct appropriate plant sampling and review of data.
">
* Assist process engineer in investigation of plant performance improvements.
">
* Review chemical usage for optimal plant performance.
">
* Ensure all operations are carried out safely and in accordance with company safety policies and work procedures.
">
* Manage daily consumable inventory and reporting.
">
* Provide support to WTP Operators.
">
* Support WTP process engineer and Coordinator and communicate issues.
">
">

Required Skills and Qualifications:

">
">
* Five years relevant industry service and operational experience in water treatment.
">
* Significant field water treatment experience including water pre-treatment, clarification, ultra filtration, reverse osmosis and optionally thermal processes.
">
* High-level written and verbal communication skills.
">
* Knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation.
">
* Dangerous goods management.
">
* Strong job safety analysis and risk assessment skills.
">
* Good knowledge of MS Office programs.
">
* Proven ability to investigate operational issues of equipment and process.
">
* Ability to interact and coordinate with operators and maintenance crew.
">
* Proven experience with PLC Scada systems and ability to extract trended information.
">
* Reporting as requested by management.
">
* Ability to calibrate instruments and chemical dosing drawdown.
">
* Some experience with membrane recovery and permeability calculation.
">
* Water sampling, testing and analysing.
">
* Data collection of WTP and ARU for plant performance analysis and reporting.
">
* Managing chemical stock level and reporting.
">
* Good understanding of water treatment chemistry for primary and tertiary water treatment.
">
