The role of the Public Advocate is to perform their statutory duties in protecting adults with impaired decision-making abilities.About the RoleThe Public Advocate is an independent statutory officer, with considerable legislative power to promote and safeguard the rights and interests of people with disability. The functions of the Public Advocate are set out in section 15 of the Guardianship and Administration Act 2019.As the Public Advocate, some of your duties will include:Providing strategic leadership to implement organisational change initiatives to enhance service delivery and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.Collaborating with community organisations to co-design policies and initiatives that reflect the needs and rights of individuals with disabilities.Developing, implementing and advocating for human rights-focused policies and frameworks that align with best practice in the disability sector and improve outcomes for people with disabilities.About youTo be successful in this role, you will have:Leadership Experience - proven experience in an executive leadership role with the demonstrated ability of making impactful changes within organisations.Sector and Subject Matter - extensive knowledge and experience of the disability, mental health and/or aged-care sectors.Strategic Policy Development - recognised expertise in strategic policy development initiatives with community organisations.QualificationsA relevant tertiary qualification in social science or a related discipline is highly desirable.How to ApplyPlease click the Apply button on this advertisement.
