OverviewWe are seeking an energetic Deli / Fresh Food Team Member to join our team at IGA Youngtown.
You will be required to work independently, but under the direction and supervision of our Fresh Food Manager.
We are looking for someone who has previous experience in a food preparation and handling role within the food industry, either in a retail workplace, in a delicatessen or in a hospitality role.Responsibilitiespreparing and serving a variety of fresh deli products, including slicing meats and cheeses, assembling sandwiches, and packaging items for salemaintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the deli area, including stocking shelves, rotating inventory, and keeping the display cases well-stocked and presentableproviding friendly and knowledgeable assistance to customers, answering questions about products and making recommendationsensuring the produce section is kept tidy, clean and visually appealing to customersplacing and unpacking deliveries, rotating stock and maintaining appropriate stock levelsperform freshness checks and ensure produce meets our high standardsadhering to all food safety and hygiene standardsassisting with opening / closing the storeassisting with other store operations as neededcollaborating with the wider retail team to provide a seamless shopping experienceQualifications & Skillsprevious experience working in a retail or customer service role, preferably in a deli or food service environmentstrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide excellent customer serviceattention to detail and the ability to work efficiently and accuratelyflexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, early mornings, evenings and public holidaysa passion for fresh, quality food and a commitment to food safetyability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 15kg regularlya sound knowledge of food safety standardsa positive, enthusiastic and reliable approach to workpossess a positive 'can do' attitude
