We're looking for Housing Officers to join our Customer Services team in Victoria. In this people-focused role, you will provide professional tenancy management services to residents and prospective residents across our Victorian portfolio.
The role is based at our Melbourne office with occasional work at Geelong or Preston. It reports to the Housing Services Team Leader.
Responsibilities
* Deliver quality tenancy management through clear, timely, respectful communication
* Provide advice about tenant rights and responsibilities
* Work with residents to resolve neighbourhood or tenancy concerns
* Manage tenancies in line with the Residential Tenancy Act and program requirements, including SDA legislation
* Identify tenancy risks early and work with internal teams to support sustainment
* Conduct routine, ingoing, and outgoing property inspections
* Manage rent collection, arrears, and tenancy debts
* Maintain accurate and complete records in the tenancy management system
* Build effective relationships with support providers, referral agencies and government stakeholders
* Manage end-of-tenancy processes, including bond disbursement and debt recovery
* Represent Housing Choices at Tribunals or Court as required
* Keep up to date with legislation, regulations and program requirements
* Use reporting tools to monitor accuracy, compliance and performance
Qualifications
* Experience in tenancy management, community housing or social housing
* Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence, particularly when working with vulnerable people
* Confidence navigating rent arrears, anti-social behaviour, and tenancy obligations
* A collaborative, solutions-focused approach
* Qualifications in housing, social services, or related fields (or equivalent experience)
