We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems, and our core values revolve around character, commitment, and connection. Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.
About The Role
In this pivotal role, you’ll collaborate closely with transmission and distribution network service providers to support project developers and equipment manufacturers throughout the application, registration, and commissioning phases, ensuring a smooth transition to full operation.
We’re looking for a natural leader who can inspire and manage a team, with proven expertise in power system analysis and a deep understanding of the challenge involved in integrating renewable energy into the grid.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead a step-change improvement in AEMO’s technical collaboration with clients and the energy industry, and analysis/reporting methods and tools, to ensure proactive identification of common industry challenges, constructive and outcome-focused problem solving, as well as robust, transparent decision making.
- Propose and support regulatory changes to recognise and facilitate the integration of large-scale renewable energy projects into the Australian electricity market.
- Deliver high-level technical guidance and make informed decisions across key areas including performance standard assessments, power system stability, system strength remediation, registration and commissioning.
- Coordinate the allocation of resources across multiple, evolving generator and load connection projects with externally driven timelines and undefined technical challenges.
- Develop a coordinated vision and framework for the integration of a variety of generation and storage technologies into the NEM, incorporating technical, regulatory and cultural change.
What You Will Bring To The Role
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or other discipline relevant to power systems analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in building and managing technical teams - shaping a proactive and ownership-based team culture, fostering a service-oriented, outcome-focused and pragmatic approach to problem solving.
- Proven expertise in overseeing generator connection processes, underpinned by deep experience in identifying and resolving performance challenges across both generator assets and broader power systems operations.
- Experience in negotiating the resolution of complex technical issues across stakeholders with competing objectives and a variety of commercial and reputational drivers.
- Strong understanding of the commercial and legal considerations influencing large-scale infrastructure projects, combined with an in-depth knowledge of the electricity industry, including the NEM dispatch processes, generator behaviour and network constraints enabling effective engagement with generation developers and key stakeholders.
In Return Some Of Our Benefits To You
