Job Tasks and Responsibilities
The Mining Engineer position is within the Short-Term Planning team and is responsible for delivering quality engineering outputs through designing, monitoring and communicating effective mine designs and schedules.
Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer and working a Monday – Friday roster, you will be part of a successful team that enjoy what they do and value each other’s contributions.
This role requires strong engagement with key stakeholders; primarily mining operations, as well as:
- Direct involvement in the development of daily, weekly and monthly plans.
- Design and scheduling for draglines, rope shovels, hydraulic excavators and haul fleet.
- Ensure compliance to legislative requirements and site standards.

To be successful in the role you will also display the following skills and attributes:
Essential Criteria:
- A Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or related engineering discipline;
- Previous experience in mine planning within an Open Cut Coal Mining workplace.
- Experience with CAD design software packages such as Deswik, shot plus, or Vulcan;
- An eye for detail and an ability to develop practical and achievable mine designs and schedules;
- Strong communication and time management skills;
- Ability to manage stakeholders at all levels;
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills;
- NSW driver’s license.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience with Deswik design software for open cut mine design.
