This exciting multi-faceted role combines Food Safety & Compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental monitoring for our dynamic Airline catering business based in Cairns.
Job Description:
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining compliance, audit functions, and reporting across both key areas of our business.
Main Responsibilities:
Food Safety & Compliance:
* Conduct internal and external audits to ensure adherence to food safety regulations.
* Record and report findings, ensuring agreed actions are implemented to address any non-compliances.
* Provide specialist advice on food safety, HACCP, and Halal matters to internal and external stakeholders.
* Investigate customer complaints, including food poisoning allegations and other safety incidents.
* Maintain knowledge of state and federal food safety legislations and report any areas for improvement.
* Coordinate microbiological testing programs and analyze results.
* Develop skills and confidence within the team to effectively manage food safety and risk prevention.
Health, Safety, and Environment:
* Promote a ‘Safety First’ culture and lead by example.
* Ensure that signs and helpful tips are visible throughout the site to prompt staff on proper practices and procedures.
* Assist in identifying and delivering safety and environmental improvement plans.
* Investigate and report hazards and incidents in accordance with relevant health, safety, and environment standards and legislation.
* Monitor performance and undertake internal audits and safety inspections to ensure legal compliance and best practice.
* Support the induction of new staff and provide training on safety, environment, and security matters.
* Maintain accurate records and reports on HSE hazards.
* In conjunction with national standards and training departments, ensure all staff are up-to-date with key training and refresher courses.
* Support first responders and coordinate medical treatment for injured employees.
* Prepare monthly reports for leadership on current or new injuries and illnesses.
Requirements:
* Formal qualifications in Microbiology, Food Safety & Tech, or HS&E are essential.
* Demonstrated success in a similar role is highly desirable.
* Experience working in a fast-paced commercial or factory setting.
* Ability to work effectively solo and within a team.
* Understanding of state applicable health, safety, and environment legislation and workers’ compensation schemes.
* Competent in documentation and records management using Microsoft Office.
* Excellent communication skills.
