Role Profile: Assistant Job title: Research and Knowledge Specialist Reports to: Research Centre Manager Business Unit: GC&R Location: Sydney Purpose of role (but not limited to): To provide high-quality legal and business research and current awareness services utilising online research products. Key duties (but not limited to): The provision of quality legal, company and industry research to legal staff, Corporate Services and clients. Organising and responding to inter-library loan and document delivery requests - Law Courts Library, Law Society Library, State Library of NSW New client research to assist in clearing conflicts Maintenance of FIRST, library management software including vendor communication and troubleshooting On-boarding new starters to the Research Centre services Utilising a variety of online sources, compilation and distribution of efficient, timely and relevant online Current awareness services tailored to the requirements of the Business Units. Cataloguing and collection maintenance Liaising with publishers when required - new PBO's, platform issue, database enhancements. Reviewing, developing, editing and updating procedures for the Research Centre Intranet updates Assist in the implementation of trials for new products, in particular legal AI products - setting up users, vendor communications, onboarding and assist users in getting the most out of these tools. Keeping abreast of new technology and information resources that will improve the research service to the lawyers. Key internal relationships/contacts: Key external relationships/contacts: Research Centre Manager Partners and lawyers in all areas of the firm Business Development Finance Information Technology · Clients · Legal publishers · Legal offices/libraries Role specific skills and experiences: Professional qualification in library and information practice and eligibility for membership to Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) OR a degree in Law or a related field. Previous experience in a similar role in a law firms or professional services firms. High level legal and industry research skills Understanding and appreciation of current technology, in particular legal AI and how it can be used to support the research function. Ability to work in a small team environment with minimum supervision. A pro-active "can do" attitude and excellent people and communication skills, both verbal and written Experience with FIRST or similar library management software Experience with content management software and HTML Role Profile Competencies: Technical Ability Clarifies and identifies the underlying problem to be addressed.
