Hunter New England Health (HNE) is establishing a brand-new Virtual Health Centre, created to lead the governance, coordination and expansion of virtual care across the district. This is a rare opportunity for a senior leader to build and lead a new service from the ground up, with district-wide impact on access, patient flow and system performance.

Based at Rankin Park, the Virtual Health Centre will play a critical role in enabling HNE to leverage technology to deliver safe, efficient and connected healthcare, supporting demand management, improving access for patients, and strengthening whole‐of‐health system capability.

Where you'll be working

The Virtual Health Centre is a newly established service designed to bring together virtual models of care, patient access coordination and system oversight. You'll be working within a collaborative, values‐driven executive environment, partnering closely with clinical leaders, operational managers and corporate teams across the district.

The culture is future‐focused, innovative and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on problem‐solving, shared accountability and continuous improvement. As this is a new service, you'll have the opportunity to shape not only the Centre's operations, but also its identity, capability and influence.

About the role

As General Manager – Virtual Health Centre, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Centre and its teams. This is a system‐level role with responsibility for governance, performance, demand and capacity management, and change leadership across HNE.

A typical week may include

* Monitoring system demand, pressure points and emerging risks, and leveraging resources across the district to improve patient access and flow
* Using data and performance indicators to identify opportunities, solve complex system problems and drive improvement
* Leading change management initiatives, engaging stakeholders and building district‐wide networks to embed virtual models of care
* Contributing to strategic planning and system design to improve access, efficiency and sustainability across HNE

Supporting you

You will be supported through

* A strong, collaborative executive and management team
* Participation in monthly MAMs
* Structured onboarding and orientation
* Ongoing leadership development and professional education opportunities

Importantly, this role offers the opportunity to help shape the role itself, with scope to influence how the Centre and its leadership function continues to evolve.

About you

You are a confident, contemporary health leader with a strong track record at a senior level. You bring a systems mindset, are comfortable working with complexity, and are motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at scale.

You will have

* Tertiary qualifications in a health‐related discipline or equivalent work experience or a combination of relevant study and work experience.
* A willingness to participate in the executive on‐call roster.
* Eligibility to drive and willingness to travel for work purposes.
* Demonstrated experience in senior leadership roles, ideally within complex health or service environments.
* Proven capability in operational management of multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience leading and managing significant change
* Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret data, identify issues and drive solutions
* Highly developed critical thinking and problem‐solving skills
