A well-established consulting engineering practice based in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This role suits an engineer ready to take ownership of design delivery while continuing to develop within a collaborative consultancy environment.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll manage your own technical responsibilities while contributing to efficient and practical project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Structural design of steel, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, and timber structures
* Preparation of calculations, sketches, and design mark-ups in line with Australian Standards and the NCC
* Review and checking of drawings
* Responding to RFIs and liaising with site teams to provide practical design solutions
* Undertaking site inspections and providing construction-phase support
* Coordinating with engineers, drafters, and external consultants
* Taking ownership of technical outcomes and contributing proactively to project delivery
About You
* Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Several years of local experience in a structural engineering consultancy environment
* Comfortable working with common Australian design standards and codes
* Practical design experience across a range of structural materials
* Familiarity with structural analysis and design software
* Able to communicate clearly with internal teams and external stakeholders
* Organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently
* Keen to continue developing technically and professionally within a consulting environment
* Working toward chartership and registration is viewed positively
