Job Details Position: Head Teacher - Special Education (Special Education Support Unit Lead) Number of Positions: 1 FTE: ***** Job Category: TCH Other Organisation: Teaching Service Closing Date: 19 Nov ****, 5:00 AM Reward: see above Responsibilities Establish and lead a Special Education Support Unit, including creating and managing new classes, developing inclusive practices and supporting a collaborative team to improve outcomes for students with diverse learning needs.
Design and implement individualised programmes for students with disability, including autism and mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, enhancing engagement, learning, and wellbeing.
Build strong, trusting relationships and partnerships with students, families, allied health professionals, external agencies and staff to deliver coordinated, individualised support, effective transition planning and whole school approaches that promote inclusion and wellbeing.
Lead evidence based, differentiated programmes, applying the NSW curriculum to meet diverse needs and guide staff to refine practice in line with school priorities and continuous improvement.
Lead the school's inclusive teaching and learning programmes, curriculum design and assessment for students with diverse learning needs.
Qualifications & Experience Qualified teacher with full approval to teach and adherence to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
Experience teaching Special Education, including students with disabilities, autism spectrum or intellectual disabilities.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage staff performance and build capacity.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a dedication to building relationships with students, staff and families.
Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare, able to lead and design quality inclusive programmes.
Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Conditions Unconditional full approval to teach is required.
