This opportunity is for the permanent workforce at HMAS Watson, commencing February 2026. Downer is seeking candidates from all backgrounds with Defence experience, industry knowledge, or transferable skills from other sectors who want to contribute to Defence capability in a high-performing, inclusive team.

What You’ll Do
This role offers a broad scope with key responsibilities including:
- Maintain, test, inspect and repair fire detection and suppression systems in line with Australian Standards, Defence requirements and manufacturer specifications
- Complete scheduled maintenance activities and respond to corrective maintenance tasks
- Ensure all records and test results are completed accurately and entered into systems
- Liaise with Defence representatives regarding system status, maintenance requirements and outages
- Ensure compliance with essential service maintenance requirements and certification processes
What You’ll Bring
- Certificate III in Fire Systems Testing and Inspections
- QBCC Fire Protection Licence (QLD), or FPAS Accreditation (NSW)
- Industry experience in fire systems inspection, testing, maintenance and repair
- Ability to obtain and retain Defence Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
- Current Open Driver’s Licence
