Sundale is seeking an energetic and experienced Independent Non-Executive Director (Independent Director) to join our Board, to chair our Quality, Safety and Clinical Governance Board Committee and guide strategic direction and organisational governance to ensure that Sundale performs at its best potential.
As an independent member of the Board Committee this role will provide expertise in clinical governance oversight relevant for the Aged Care sector to support the delivery of safe, high-quality care experiences in alignment with Quality Care Standards.

About The Role
Working closely with the Chair of the Board, the Independent Director will:
Contribute to the governance and strategy of Sundale, providing independent judgement and constructive challenge
Contribute to strong financial, prudential and risk oversight of the organisation
Promote and monitor a positive culture that facilitates high performance, integrity and quality customer clinical and care experiences
Act as a custodian of Sundale's strategic objectives, supporting transparency, accountability and effective stakeholder engagement
Uphold high standards of professionalism, confidentiality and ethical conduct
Maintain integrity and professional independence as a non-executive board member
Ensure the organisation's clinical governance practices meet current standards and prepare for regulatory changes
Contribute to the board's risk management strategy by identifying and advising on clinical risks and opportunities relevant to the sector and business goals
Foster a culture of safety, quality improvement, and respect for the rights and dignity of aged care customers
Provide independent, evidence-based clinical advice to the Board
Provide oversight on clinical performance indicators and identify areas of risk or concern
Support the development and review of clinical governance frameworks.
Participate in scheduled Board meetings, Clinical Governance and/or applicable Board subcommittee meetings, and strategic planning sessions
Chair the Quality Safety and Clinical Governance Committee
Provide insight into emerging clinical trends, aged care reforms, and regulatory changes
Ensure all clinical-related recommendations reflect best practices, compliance, and culturally appropriate care
Essential Skills And Experience
We are seeking suitably qualified candidates with skills and/or demonstrated experience in the following areas:
A minimum of 5+ years of Aged Care clinical governance experience is required or comparable clinical care experience within healthcare
Discharging legal, ethical, fiduciary and financial responsibilities of a company director
Strategic oversight and organisational performance monitoring
Strong commercial acumen including financial stewardship and enterprise risk management
Ability to work collaboratively with Board and senior management to achieve exceptional outcomes
Demonstrated success at a board and/or executive committee level with decision-making experience
Qualifications and Requirements
Hold a current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse/Allied Health Professional or relevant clinical discipline (highly desirable)
Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Law or Health related discipline or significant comparable experience at an executive and/or director level
Membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) is desirable
Must have a Directors Identification Number and meet responsible person and police clearance requirements under the Aged Care Act 2024
Must meet eligibility requirements of an Independent Non-Executive Director within the Board Constitution
Ability to attend Board meetings and undertake Board activities in person at the Sunshine Coast, SE Queensland as required
