An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced and strategic Director of Social Work to lead high-quality, patient‐centred allied health services across Hervey Bay and Maryborough Hospitals. This role provides executive‐level leadership across a diverse portfolio of social work services, supporting clinical excellence, workforce development, service integration, and innovation within a complex regional health environment.
Your Opportunity:
* Deliver specialised Social Work clinical services, professional leadership and management of all operational aspects of the Social Work Department across the Fraser Coast, delivering services to stakeholders/customers of Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service in accordance with organisational goals.
* The position also leads service development, education and research in the work unit.
What we're looking for:
Clinical Expertise
* Demonstrated advanced level of knowledge, expertise and skills in contemporary clinical practice standards in Social Work in two or more clinical areas.
* Demonstrated ability to apply evidence‐based principles to facilitate novel, complex Social Work or multidisciplinary clinical decisions.
Communication
* Demonstrated high level communication skills to align a team and influence the culture towards a common vision, direction and ethical framework.
* Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice regarding professional standards and clinical service development.
Leadership
* Demonstrated ability to provide effective operational and professional management of a social work professional team including the allocation of resources.
* Demonstrated ability to lead change through quality and service improvement activities and provide clinical supervision of personnel.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Mandatory possession of a recognised degree in Social Work, and membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a "certification of eligibility" letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership. Overseas qualified applicants should include such evidence with their application to be considered for short‐listing in the selection process.
* Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
* Post graduate qualification is highly desirable.
* Aged Care: "Potential applicants are advised that Section 63‐1A of the Aged Care Act 2024 requires Queensland Health to: (a) Seek a criminal conviction record report from the Australian Federal Police; and (b) Conduct a search of bankruptcy records; and (c) Conduct previous employment and referee checks". Your appointment to the position is subject to a favourable aged care service clearance. Queensland Health will meet the cost of this check.
* Applicants in Aged Care are also advised that appointment to this position is subject to a Banning Order Register check, which will be conducted by the line manager to verify your eligibility to work in the aged care sector.
* Aged Care – non Aphra registered Health Practitioners engaged in Aged Care roles are required to provide evidence of membership with the Professional Membership Association.

Our offer
You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $172,615 p.a., comprising salary between $144,991- $151,289 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP5) (Permanent Full Time, 76 hours p.f.)
