Contract Opportunity – Development Manager / Senior Engineering Lead (Confluent Implementation)

We are seeking an experienced Development Manager / Senior Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership for the delivery of a high-profile Confluent platform implementation across the organisation.
About the Role
As the current Development Manager transitions into another internal role, this position offers an immediate opportunity to lead a small, high-performing engineering team (4 developers + DM) in implementing enterprise-wide data streaming capabilities. The initiative is strategically significant, cross-functional, and highly visible across the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor, and support the Confluent engineering team, fostering technical excellence and collaboration
* Define and drive technical strategy for enterprise Confluent implementation, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and observability
* Translate complex business requirements into practical, high-quality engineering solutions
* Manage delivery rhythm (planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and optimise team outcomes against schedule and resource constraints
* Serve as the primary technical escalation point and advocate for dependencies, risks, and resource needs
* Engage with stakeholders across business units, representing the Confluent initiative in forums, planning sessions, and governance committees
