ISLHD Drug & Alcohol Services provides a range of treatment and support services designed to assist individuals, families, and communities managing concerns related to alcohol, prescription, or illicit drug use. Outpatient drug and alcohol (D&A) services are located at Illawarra Drug and Alcohol Service (IDAS), Shoalhaven Drug and Alcohol Service (SDAS), Opioid Treatment Clinics (Bungora and LAMP) and embedded D&A positions within the Mental Health Service.

The district Senior Aboriginal Health Worker role exists to bridge cultural knowledge with clinical care, ensuring Aboriginal clients receive safe, respectful, culturally informed support while contributing strategic insight and leadership to enhance the D&A service's capacity to deliver effective drug and alcohol care for Aboriginal communities.

Responsibilities

* Provide culturally safe, holistic support to Aboriginal clients and families dealing with substance use
* Embed cultural respect in every stage of service delivery
* Provide peer support, care navigation and cultural knowledge to other key Aboriginal Health Workers within the team
* Contribute to multidisciplinary care to ensure any cultural or community issues are adequately considered as part of the care coordination process

From Helensburgh in the north to North Durras in the south, ISLHD covers an area of 5,687 square kms. That's 5,687 square kms of beautiful beaches, coastal cycling tracks, lush rainforests, incredible bushwalks and friendly people. The region is also host to many annual food, wine and arts festivals and events.

ISLHD operates seven hospital sites, employ over 8,500 staff and provide community health services across 58 locations. Commute times are short, childcare and schooling options are plentiful, and Sydney and Canberra are close by.
