About the Role

The Practice Lead – PLD (Youth Justice) is responsible for leading the design, coordination, and delivery of professional learning and development initiatives for staff working in Community and Custodial Youth Justice settings. The role ensures that training is responsive to emerging practice needs, informed by evidence and policy, and contributes to improved outcomes for children and young people. The position leverages advanced expertise as a social worker to guide the development and delivery of training and professional learning that is trauma informed, ensuring staff are equipped to provide safe, responsive, and therapeutic services. This includes translating complex practice guidance and review findings into meaningful learning experiences that uplift professional practice and promote high-quality service delivery across the Youth Justice system.

A healthy, skilled, supported and well-managed workforce is essential to the work of the Child Safety Service and the safety of children, young people and their families. This role is working within the high performing training team for Child Safety and Youth Justice Operations and will be instrumental in the forming of a new Youth Justice Training Team.

We are looking for

* Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration status – Employment
* Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
* Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
* Postgraduate, or progression toward postgraduate qualifications relevant to the position
* Background checks: conviction checks (crimes of violence, sex related offences, serious drug offences, crimes involving dishonesty, serious traffic offences), identification check, disciplinary actions in previous employment check
