The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Area Strategic Advisor to provide a critical role at the Office of the Executive Director, West Area region.

Corrections and Justice Services works in collaboration with other Department of Justice and Community Safety program areas and communities to deliver justice services that are efficient, effective, and integrated around community and client needs. CJS uses its experience with, and connections to, the community to ensure service delivery meets local needs and priorities, to drive innovation and service improvement and to enhance policy development.
About The Role
The Area Strategic Advisor is responsible for the provision of high-level advice and strategic direction to the West Area Executive Director on issues pertaining to regional services, particularly within the social in which the department delivers its services at a local level. Whilst maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of current internal and external issues and risks, the Area Strategic Advisor is responsible for making recommendations and determining solutions that provide options for decision making for the Executive Director.
As an Area Strategic Advisor, some of your duties will include:
* Providing high-level authoritative advice to the Executive Director on complex and sensitive matters, across all elements of CJS service delivery and corporate services.
* Developing responsive briefing reports, high quality presentations at short notice and undertaking projects as required in respect to highly complex, sensitive, and confidential issues, including making recommendations and determining solutions that provide options for decision making by the Executive Director and local regional executive teams.
* Managing the preparation of Area submissions and responses to corporate and government requests, and contributing to CJS work of this kind, including coordinating whole of CJS submissions on selected projects.

This position will require travelling to work at other locations in the West Area on a regular basis.
