The Role
ALS is seeking enthusiastic Chemist to join our metallurgical services business based in Perth, WA. This is a permanent full-time position within the Analytical team conducting and reporting data in support of the facilities' metallurgical testing capabilities. The position will suit a chemist who is dynamic, self-motivated and seeking a secure long-term Perth based role.
Applicants will be based in the Balcatta laboratory. Experience in the operation and method development of Inductively Coupled Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) instruments is essential. Knowledge of wet chemistry, classical techniques, and an ability to create and validate procedures is also a requirement.
The day to day
Applicants will be based in the Balcatta laboratory, typical duties include:
* Method development, validation, and maintenance an of Inductively Coupled Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) instrument.
* Conduct analytical tests and interpret data to prepare quality analytical reports.
* Direct and manage technical staff in instrument operation and other laboratory testing.
* Liaise with the internal metallurgical staff and external clients with regards to results and reporting.
* Apply time management skills so that routine laboratory activities are conducted in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
* Strict compliance to ALS procedures and policies.
The essentials
Applicants with previous experience in similar geoscience or metallurgical science roles will be highly regarded. Experience in process mineralogy would be advantageous.
Suitable candidates for this role must have:
* A tertiary qualification in Science, preferably Chemistry.
* Experience in leading and managing small teams.
* Advanced literacy, numeracy, and computer skills.
* Good communication, organisational and time management skills.
* Great attention to detail and be highly motivated.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
