Senior Policy Officer, Local Jobs First Policy Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus Superannuation) Fixed term role: until 30 June 2026 Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available) Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available) The Role Reporting to the Co-Managers, Local Jobs First Policy and working as part of a small and dynamic team, the Senior Policy Officer, Local Jobs First is responsible for leading a diverse range of projects to support the delivery of Local Jobs First. The responsibilities of the Senior Policy Officer, Local Jobs First Policy will include: Contributing to the delivery of the Local Jobs First Policy and prepare high quality policy and strategic advice on issues related to government procurement and industry policy. Leading policy co-ordination, development and implementation in relation to the Victorian Government's election commitment to strengthen the Local Jobs First Act 2003 and associated policy to ensure it continues to maximise opportunities for local jobs and businesses. Leading initiatives related to the application of Local Jobs First across government departments and agencies and industry to support compliance. The Team The position of Senior Policy Officer, Local Jobs First Policy forms a part of the Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent branch within the Industry, Trade and Investment group. The Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. ITI champions Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and international investment, international education and innovation. The Industry Development, Construction, Manufacturing and Talent (IDCMT) Branch is responsible for shaping and ensuring the delivery of the Victorian Government's industry development agenda. About You The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience: Policy Design, Development and Analysis: Demonstrated experience in formulating public policy options and recommendations and providing strategic advice to senior management on issues related to procurement and/or industry policy. Conceptual and Analytical Skills: High level conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to research, analyse issues and develop innovative policies and effective solutions. Written and Verbal Communication: Well-developed written and verbal communication skills with experience in the preparation of comprehensive reports and briefs on complex and sensitive issues.
