Overview

Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) represents the Ngarluma, Yindjibarndi, Mardudhunera, Yaburara and Wong-Goo-Tt-Oo peoples, the recognised Traditional Owners and Custodians of Murujuga.

Home to one of the world’s largest and oldest collections of rock art, the Murujuga Cultural Landscape holds over one million petroglyphs dating back more than 50,000 years. Recently inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, this globally significant place celebrates living cultural traditions, ancient stories, and the enduring connection between people and Country.

Guided by the Murujuga Circle of Elders and governed by a Board of Directors representing each of the five groups, MAC’s mission is to protect and preserve Murujuga’s land, heritage, and culture, while creating opportunities that support and transform the lives of our Members and community.

The Role

As the Administration Officer for Ranger Services, you will provide essential administrative and operational support to the team responsible for co-managing the Murujuga National Park, delivering Rock Art Tours and Cultural Awareness Training, and coordinating participants for monitoring and surveys.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring smooth coordination of Ranger activities, operations, training, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. In addition, the position will contribute to supporting MAC’s low-level tourism initiatives, such as providing administrative support for Rock Art Tours, assisting with visitor enquiries, and helping prepare promotional materials.

Operational & Administrative Support

Develop and implement systems to improve administrative efficiency and communication related to monitoring, surveying, and ranger programs.

Act as the primary liaison between monitors, surveyors, and other stakeholders on country.

Manage logistical arrangements for monitoring and surveying activities, including travel bookings, equipment allocation, and on-country coordination.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including ranger training logs, Cultural Awareness Training attendees, Rock Art Tour participant numbers, corporate expenditure, and general administrative data.

Support digital platforms, including CRM, WAAMS, ADMS, and SharePoint.

Support CRM management platform configuration, testing and documentation

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather project scope details

Provide feedback on MAC’s Member CRM system to ensure it is user-friendly and functional for ranger and tourism data entry.

Assist in preparing simple tourism-related collateral, including brochures, booking confirmations, and visitor information.

Perform other duties and tasks as required.

Assist in onboarding new ranger staff, including uniform, PPE, and induction processes.

Schedule and coordinate ranger meetings, training renewals, and team calendars.

Support the organisation of Elders Day events, community meetings, and cultural activities.

Book and manage ranger travel, vehicle servicing, and accommodation requirements.

Maintain stock control of ranger PPE, field supplies, and cultural training resources.

Coordinate weekly ranger schedules and timesheet submissions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Build and maintain positive working relationships with rangers, Elders, and MAC members, ensuring strong cultural respect and operational support.

Tourism Support

Assist with administrative tasks related to Murujuga Rock Art Tours, including managing bookings, processing payments, and issuing confirmations.

Maintain basic visitor records, including numbers, feedback, and follow-up enquiries.

Support Cultural Awareness Training sessions by preparing attendance lists, certificates, and catering orders.

Help compile tourism content for internal reporting and external promotion.

Provide reception support for tourism enquiries, both phone and email.

Liaise with visitors and stakeholders in a skilled and welcoming manner, ensuring a positive tourism experience that reflects Murujuga’s values

Qualifications

Certificate II, III, or IV in Business Administration (or equivalent)

Certificate III in Business

Other relevant vocational training (e.g. records management, office management)

Core Competencies

Strong organisational and time management skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Discretion and respect for confidentiality

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated experience in an administrative role, preferably in an office environment.

Strong initiative, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard and within deadlines.

Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, written, and verbal.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn database management software.

Strong organisational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.

Ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Understanding of Aboriginal culture or a genuine willingness to learn.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also managing independent tasks.

Experience in working with Aboriginal communities or in an environmental, cultural heritage, or ranger services setting.

Knowledge of SharePoint, WAAMS, or ADMS systems.
