We are delighted to be partnering with a leading global investment bank with a strong institutional client franchise to appoint an Institutional Research Sales Associate in Sydney.
The role involves working closely with an established institutional sales team in the distribution of Australian and offshore Equity research products to institutional clients both domestically and internationally. The successful applicant will support senior members of the sales team and should view their role as an integral part of the team's overall success. The position requires a strong team orientation, active contribution to idea generation, passion for equity markets, effective communication and strong client focus as well as a willingness to support colleagues and seek assistance when required.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The Institutional Research Sales Associate will be responsible for pitching stock ideas, industry themes and research insights to institutional investors and for producing event-driven sales notes for hedge fund clients. The role will also involve contributing to ESG-related research initiatives and supporting senior sales professionals through strong teamwork and execution.
In addition, the associate will help to promote research analysts by increasing their connectivity with institutional clients and generate differentiated sales ideas on top of marketing core research product. The role includes promoting conferences, corporate access events and roadshows, facilitating the internal and external distribution of research products, accompanying clients on company visits, and maintaining effective working relationships with corporates, clients, government and industry bodies.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree or higher in a business-related discipline, preferably finance and/or accounting
* 2–7 years' experience in institutional research sales, or relevant experience in equity research, investment banking, accounting, wealth management or industry
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Advanced Excel and spreadsheet capability
* Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and relationship management skills and ability to work under pressure when required
* High level of commercial awareness
