Job Opportunity: Breastfeeding Support Specialist
The role of a Breastfeeding Support Specialist is a critical part of our hospital's midwifery service. Your primary objective will be to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding by educating women, families, health professionals, and the community about lactation and artificially feeding newborns, infants, and children.
This position provides a specialized service for women and their families across the healthcare continuum.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement educational programs for women, families, health professionals, and the community about lactation and artificially feeding newborns, infants, and children.
* Provide personalized support to women and their families in promoting and sustaining breastfeeding.
Requirements:
* A relevant tertiary degree qualification and registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Midwife (RM).
* Current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification.
* A postgraduate qualification in a relevant area of study or currently enrolled in one.
* Ability to travel to various facilities or units within the North West Hospital and Health Service.
* C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
* Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
* This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
* A period of probation may apply.
