School of Social Science at the University of Queensland is seeking an Associate Lecturer (Teaching Focused) for a part‐time, fixed‐term appointment of 0.45FTE, ending 27 November2026. The role involves teaching undergraduate Anthropology courses – ANTH1008 Being Human: Cultural Diversity and Experience and ANTH2010 Critical Anthropology and Indigenous Australians – in Semester2, with a focus on innovative and effective teaching practice.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate teaching activities for the courses, including developing and delivering lectures, seminars and tutorials.
* Assess and mark students, maintain and improve course quality, and mentor students through academic counselling.
* Engage with the collegial life of the School, support thesis marking where relevant, contribute to ad‐hoc working parties and undertake administrative functions in accordance with university teaching rules.
Qualifications and Attributes
* PhD (or near completion of a PhD) in Anthropology.
* Demonstrated knowledge of a relevant field or sub‐field of Anthropology.
* Proven ability to teach effective undergraduate and postgraduate courses, using active‐learning and flexible approaches, including online teaching.
* Strong communication, interpersonal and consultative skills, and a capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues.
* Capacity to use a range of online systems and learning platforms such as Blackboard and electronic course profiles.
Benefits
Fixed‐term contract to 27 November2026: $83,698–$111,431+17% superannuation (Academic LevelA). Other benefits include up to26weeks of paid parental leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible working arrangements and access to internal‐only vacancies.
