**The Organisation**
You will be working at a 700-bed hospital, which is one of the most sustainable and technically advanced regional hospitals in Australia. A wide range of general medical, surgical and speciality services are provided, including oncology, cardiology, renal, emergency, women's and children's, critical care, specialist clinics and mental health services.
These Junior Medical Officer positions offer a practical, hands on approach to junior doctor training. Exposure to a large and varied patient base is achieved as the health service operates as the referral and trauma centre for the entire region. The health service operates with 372 inpatient beds, 72 same day beds, 11 operating theatres, a regional cancer centre, an 80 bed integrated mental health facility, and a mother and baby unit.
The general rotational program has been designed to flexibly deliver career pathways for junior doctors who want to develop a diverse range of specialties.
**The Job**
- Junior Medical Officers may choose from any of the available rotations from:
- General medicine
- Palliative care
- GEM on acute
- Emergency medicine
- Rehabilitation/geriatric medicine
- General surgery
- Leave Relief
- Obstetrics and gynaecology
- Psychiatry
- Orthopaedics
- ENT
- Oncology
- Paediatrics
- ICU
- You will receive excellent clinical exposure from a diverse patient base that is friendly and welcoming to trainee doctors
- You will participate in ward rounds, journal club and case conferences
- You will participate in educational and Quality Improvement activities
- You will be working as part of a team of doctors, including consultant, registrars, other medical officers and commonly interns too.
- The shift pattern depends on your rotation, but generally includes a combination of days, evenings and nights over a 7-day week. This is usually in a pattern of 4-5 days on (can include weekends), 3-4 days off.
- On average you will work for 38-45 hours per week. The hospital works to minimise overtime where possible to support work/life balance.

- There is an active Hospital Medical Officer Society for support and socialising amongst same-grade colleagues, and a dedicated area of the hospital for junior doctors to rest and study, including en-suite bedrooms for use when on shift.
- You will receive 5 weeks of annual leave and up to 3 weeks of study leave
- You will receive FREE fully furnished accommodation a short walk from the hospital for four weeks to enable you to find suitable accommodation once you have arrived. You can also continue to live and pay rent in the hospital accommodation following this initial phase.
