About the Role
TerryWhite Chemmart Garran sits directly adjacent to Canberra Hospital, operating at the intersection of community and clinical pharmacy. We serve hospital outpatients, staff, visitors, and several outpatient clinics — giving our team a scope of practice that goes well beyond a typical community pharmacy, including active participation in clinical trials across a range of therapeutic areas.
We are looking for an experienced Pharmacist in Charge to lead our operations, mentor the team, and deliver outstanding patient-centred care. This is a fast-paced role with a lot of moving parts. If you thrive on variety, make decisions confidently, and know how to delegate effectively — this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead day-to-day pharmacy operations in accordance with legislative, regulatory, and TerryWhite Chemmart requirements
* Supervise and mentor a medium-sized team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture
* Oversee PBS dispensing, authority scripts, clinical medication reviews, and outpatient clinic service delivery
* Deliver vaccination services in line with pharmacy protocols and ACT legislation
* Drive KPI-driven results across patient care, professional services, and business performance
* Ensure compliance with AHPRA, Pharmacy Board of Australia, ACT regulations, and QCPP standards in collaboration with the Operations Manager
* Manage stock, inventory, HR functions, rostering, and staff development
* Liaise with the business owner to achieve operational and commercial objectives
About You
* Registered Pharmacist with AHPRA — minimum 2 years post-registration experience
* Current vaccination certificate (vaccinator accreditation) — essential
* Supervisory or leadership experience is highly desirable
* Strong PBS dispensing knowledge including authority prescriptions and medication management
* Sharp time management and organisational skills — able to juggle multiple priorities without dropping the ball
* Results-oriented, proactive decision-maker who acts without waiting for direction
* Confident delegator who empowers the team and keeps operations running smoothly
* Experience in clinical services such as MedsCheck, HMR, or NLP is highly regarded
* Australian permanent residency is required for this position
* Proficiency in major pharmacy software systems is essential
What We Offer
* $130,000 per annum inclusive of superannuation
* Participation in clinical trials — rare in community pharmacy and a genuine career differentiator
* Free on-site parking at the hospital every day
* Generous staff discounts
* Supportive team culture where your leadership is valued
* Ongoing CPD support and professional development
* Access to the TerryWhite Chemmart network and business support infrastructure
