Overview
On-Call Firefighters work from their local Fire Station and are responsible for undertaking a wide range of duties including community fire safety work, attending fires and other emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents or chemical hazards, and collaboration with other emergency services such as NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Police. On-Call Firefighters are paid for attendance at incidents, training sessions, and community safety activities.
Responsibilities
- Attend fires and other emergencies as required, including motor vehicle accidents or chemical hazards.
- Deliver community fire safety education and prevention activities for school children, senior citizens and local businesses.
- Collaborate with other emergency services (e.g., NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service, NSW Police).
- Participate in training sessions and community safety events as part of ongoing employment and on-call duties.
About You
On-Call Firefighters play a crucial role in protecting people, property and the environment in their local communities. To be successful you need to be team oriented, community-focused, adaptable, reliable and have availability across weekdays and/or weekends, including day and/or night work. You must live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station to respond promptly to emergencies.
Essential Requirements
- Valid NSW Driver's Licence (minimum P1)
- Australian or Current Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station
Minimum Availability And Attendance
At least 33% of all calls over a six-month period and a minimum of 80% of all calls received by the brigade during the compulsory availability in any four-week period, together with no less than 75% drill attendance.
