Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a laboratory, including maintaining consumable stock levels, performing equipment maintenance and calibrations, and conducting QHSE training and toolbox talks.
They will also be responsible for coordinating and managing workflow, meeting customer expectations, planning and delivering training programs for employees, trainees, and lower technical levels, and performing and supervising routine test work within set guidelines and priorities.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* In-depth knowledge of ISO 17025 is essential for this role.
* Good working knowledge of laboratory procedures and sampling techniques is required.
* Understanding and implementation of quality control and assurance procedures are critical.
* Understanding and implementation of occupational, health, safety, and environmental principles and procedures are essential.
* Ability to manage a large number of staff in a mining laboratory environment is required.
* Proactive management of staff in a 'hands on' manner is essential.
* Demonstrated ability to organize structured competency-based training programs is necessary.
* Able to work unsupervised either individually or in a team environment.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Proven organizational skills.
* Ability to prioritize work, in accordance with manager's general work priority guidelines.
* Ability to motivate others to achieve desired outcomes.
