Job Details
The Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD) at DISR is responsible for driving the departments digital transformation and supporting ICT-enabled enterprise projects. Within CIOD, the ICT Operations Branch manages ICT infrastructure, networks, end-user platforms, cloud services, and ICT operations.
The End User Services section delivers user-centred, high-quality digital services including SOE management, corporate device support, desktop application packaging, Microsoft 365, collaboration tools, and remote access.
The Senior Windows Desktop Engineer will contribute to the design, development, maintenance, and support of enterprise end-user technologies, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable ICT environments.
Key Duties And Responsibilities
* Design, develop, maintain, and support:
o Windows Standard Operating Environment (SOE), desktop software, and corporate device configurations (desktop/iOS)
o Enterprise messaging and collaboration (Exchange, Teams)
o Enterprise remote access (VDI and VPN)
o Application packaging and deployment
* Manage automated patching processes
* Provide expert technical advice across ICT platforms in governance and service management forums
* Deliver Level 3 support for escalated complex technical issues
* Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure integration and compliance
* Develop SOPs, technical documentation, and knowledge base resources
* Support project planning and delivery for upgrades, migrations, and rollouts
* Monitor system performance and proactively ensure reliability and scalability
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Essential Criteria
* Experience/knowledge of Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise (M365 Pro Plus), including servicing, update channels, and M365 licensing
* Expert knowledge of Windows 11, Intune, and Group Policy configuration (including Advanced Group Policy Management)
* Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) / Mobile Access Management (MAM) through Intune
* MECM (SCCM) and Intune skills including SOE creation/maintenance, application packaging, and patching
* Strong experience in writing technical documentation including SOPs and design documentation
Desirable Criteria
* Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD)
* Experience with Australian Government IT Cyber Security processes including ISM, Essential 8, and ACSC hardening guides
