Your new role
The department is seeking an experienced EL1 Security Policy Specialist to lead the development of protective security policies that are clear, accessible, and tailored to a diverse client base. You will work closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to interpret policy contexts, refine content, and ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing protective security policies and supporting documentation (procedures, guidance)
* Consulting with stakeholders through workshops and individual engagement
* Identifying policy interdependencies and meeting development milestones
* Ensuring alignment with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework
* Producing performance metrics to evaluate policy effectiveness (desirable)
What you'll need to succeed
* Demonstrated experience in corporate policy development for diverse stakeholders
* Strong ability to interpret policy purpose and scope quickly
* Expertise in writing clear, plain-English policies
* Understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements
* NV1 security clearance (NV2 preferred or willingness to upgrade)
* Knowledge of Australian and overseas protective security environments (desirable)
