Senior Project Manager (Pre‑Construction) – Seascale

Pay: Circa £95,000 (Negotiable depending on skillset and experience) – Full time, 45 hours per week – Permanent.

As Senior Project Manager (Pre‑Construction) you will lead all early‑stage project development activities for a major package supporting nuclear operations, remediation and decommissioning works. Your responsibilities include pre‑construction planning, design coordination, constructability reviews, programme development, risk management, stakeholder engagement, procurement strategy and delivery readiness. You will work with internal teams, clients, design partners, subcontractors and regulatory stakeholders to ensure all pre‑construction works meet strict nuclear‑sector standards for safety, quality, security and compliance.

Key accountabilities:

* Lead early‑stage project development and delivery strategy.
* Coordinate design, procurement, and construction teams to ensure readiness for the construction phase.
* Drive programme development, sequencing and risk management.
* Ensure compliance with nuclear‑site standards, including safety case, security protocols, CDM and regulatory liaison.
* Maintain strong communication and stakeholder engagement, particularly with regulatory bodies.


Essential Skills, Experience or Qualifications

* Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager on large civil engineering, infrastructure or nuclear projects.
* Background in planning, design management, early‑stage strategy, procurement, buildability reviews and risk management.
* Knowledge of nuclear‑site standards, safety case compliance, security protocols, CDM and regulatory liaison.
* Leadership of multidisciplinary teams (planners, designers, engineers, commercial, subcontractors).
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management and client‑facing skills.
* Strong ability in programme development, sequencing and readiness assurance.
* Experience with NEC contracts and nuclear‑licensed sites.
* Security clearance (SC) or ability to obtain SC.


Advantageous Skills, Experience or Qualifications

* Experience with major pre‑construction or early works packages in nuclear or infrastructure settings.
* Chartered status (MICE, MAPM, RICS or equivalent).
* Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or similar.

Head of Projects – Seascale

Pay: Circa £112,000 (Negotiable depending on skillset and experience) – Full time, 45 hours per week – Permanent. Benefits include a car allowance of £6,900, 8% employer pension contribution and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

As Head of Projects you will take senior leadership responsibility for overseeing the successful delivery of a portfolio of major civil engineering and infrastructure projects. You will ensure all projects are executed safely, efficiently and in full accordance with programme, quality, cost and regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include leading Project Managers, engineering and delivery teams, setting project governance structures, ensuring strong planning and commercial control, and driving continuous improvement across the project portfolio.


Essential Skills, Experience or Qualifications

* Proven experience as a Head of Projects, Programme Manager or similar role overseeing large‑scale civil engineering projects.
* Strong understanding of project governance, construction methodology, engineering interfaces and operational delivery.
* Excellent command of health & safety leadership and a strong safety‑first mindset.
* Experience managing project controls including planning, cost management, progress reporting and risk management.
* Ability to operate strategically while maintaining oversight of day‑to‑day delivery.


Advantageous Skills, Experience or Qualifications

* Chartered status (MICE, MAPM, RICS, MCIOB or equivalent).
* Degree (BEng/BSc/MEng) in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar.
* Experience working within highly regulated or security‑controlled project environments.
* Advanced knowledge of programme management methodologies.
