**About the Opportunity**
A position exists for a permanent, full-time Technical Officer in a dynamic and well-established Cytology laboratory. This is an opportunity to be a part of a broad network of laboratories across NSW, creating better health outcomes for our patients.
Cytology is a section of the Department of Tissue Pathology and Diagnostic Oncology located at the ICPMR, Westmead Hospital and part of the NSW Health Pathology network. The department consists of a team of caring and dedicated technical, scientific and medical staff all working together to provide speciality diagnostic cytology services so that clinicians can care for their patients and make the best possible treatment decisions for patients.

**What you'll be doing**
Responsible for performing a range of cytology laboratory tasks both collaboratively and independently in accordance established methods and procedures including but not limited to, data entry, specimen receipt and preparation, gynaecological and non-gynaecological triage, attendance at FNAs, QC checks and supplies ordering.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services relevant to Cytology, including use of Electronic Medical Record Systems, Quality Control Systems and computer programs such as Microsoft Office suite.
- Demonstrated handling of precious diagnostic specimens including automated and manual processing methods, biological safety and biohazard cabinet use.
- Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner while showing initiative and managing competing priorities to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment whilst working autonomously to deliver results within specified timeframes set to meet client expectations.
- Customer focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and patients as well as clinical laboratory staff.
- Commitment to the principles of quality management and continuous quality improvement and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities.
