Job Title: Principal Safety Consultant
Job Summary:
The Defence Science and Technology Group Work Health and Safety Strategy and Assurance team is seeking experienced Safety Professionals with specialised knowledge and experience. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and dedicated Safety Professional who can work as part of an integrated team, linking up into broader Defence whilst also working as part of the DSTG Safety Enabling Team.
About the Role:
This role will involve leading systems integration, monitoring, assurance, and reporting, working with stakeholders from within Defence and DSTG. Key responsibilities will include coordinating and managing the development, implementation, monitoring, and performance reporting of work health and safety specialist activities specific to DSTG, coordinating and overseeing the DSTG Assurance and reporting program, and developing, integrating, and monitoring systems performance using data analysis techniques.

* Coordinate and oversee the DSTG Assurance and reporting program.
* Develop, integrate, and monitor systems performance using data analysis techniques.
About Our Team:
The DSTG Work Health and Safety Strategy and Assurance team engages with broader Defence to ensure alignment with the Defence SMS and implementation of the Defence WHS Strategy. This team supports the Chief Defence Scientist (CDS) and DSTG Leadership Team (DLT) with reporting in support of due diligence.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of work health and safety system integration, assurance, and data analysis. They will be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity, listen, understand, and adapt their communication style to the audience. Additionally, they will have the ability to form professional networks and nurture internal and external relationships, and be willing to share learning and support peers.

You will be accountable for ensuring compliance with legislative frameworks, Defence's WHS policy and strategy requirements.
