As Governments and industry recognise the need for a more cohesive and sustainable approach to working in regional Australia, this position will give you a unique opportunity to be a leader in this field, liaising with community, industry and government leaders and working to achieve sustainable economic and community outcomes in Southern Tasmania.

Are you someone who:

• has tertiary qualifications in a regional development related discipline (regional development, economics, government policy, business, or other) or demonstrated equivalent experience.

• A project manager with a proven ability to manage complex and diverse projects

• Someone with an entrepreneurial or creative mindset, able to identify innovative solutions and opportunities

• can build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and clients that results in trust and repeat business.

• can research and analyse a range of knowledge and data inputs to develop robust recommendations and reports.

• is able to prepare and communicate effectively to various audiences (includes written feedback; workshops and meeting facilitation).

• can critically analyse project proposals/applications and provide constructive advice and feedback.

• has the ability to review policy and provide advice suitable for government and other stakeholders.

• can work in a collaborative and agile environment including working autonomously to identify and follow through with partnership and project opportunities, including project management.

Success in the role will ensure:

• Quality research and analysis to underpin advice, including to Government and stakeholders.

• Identification and facilitation of regional development initiatives in partnership with regional bodies and stakeholders.

• Identification of partners, programs and funding to support projects and strategic initiatives.

• Advice to partners and proponents supporting quality project briefs and funding applications.

• Material, sustainable improvement to amenity, lifestyle and services for the community

• Additional sources of sustainable economic stimulation

• Monitoring projects and reporting progress.

A key focus of RDA Tasmania is on the economic, social and environmental issues affecting communities. We exist to support a thriving economy and society in Tasmania.

This position is partly funded through the Southern Tasmania Council Network Partnership which was established in December 2025 through a Service Agreement between the 12 Southern Councils and Regional Development Australia Tasmania.
