About the Mine
With a mine life of over 20 years, Centurion is poised to set new benchmarks in underground coal mining, emphasising safety and production excellence. The premium metallurgical coal from Centurion is a key component in steelmaking vital for infrastructure development. Peabody aims to revive this world‐class operation, with development coal production targeted for early 2024 and long‐wall coal production expected in 2026.
About the Role
Peabody is currently seeking Underground Fitters to join our Centurion underground mine, located 160 kilometres west of Mackay. Reporting to the Outbye Mechanical Coordinator, the scope of your new role will be included.
* Carry out personal risk assessment, hazard identification and other safety requirements relevant to the role.
* Work to "Best Practice" techniques to ensure that equipment is maintained to a high safety, productive and reliable standard.
* Compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
* Participate in site continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is offered on a 7:7 day/night roster and can allow for a residential (Moranbah) DIDO or FIFO lifestyle.

About You
* Trade qualifications.
* Minimum of 2 years in underground coal mining.
* Ability to work effectively in a team, coupled with strong communication skills.
* Operation of underground equipment as required.
* A demonstrated commitment to safety and the ability to work effectively in a team are key requirements of the role.
* Commitment to high performance standards.
In addition to the above, you will have a genuine commitment to safety and demonstrate a sound understanding of risk and hazard identification. You will be an exceptional team member with a flexible attitude and sound work ethic.
