Position Overview

Blue Sky Community Services is seeking to employ professional and values‐aligned people to join our supportive and friendly team and assist in delivering Families Together services. We are seeking four full‐time Family Practitioners to join our Families, Young People and Communities team within the Families Together program, commencing 1 July 2026. Three positions will be based in Coffs Harbour and one position will be based in Nambucca Heads, with the roles working across the Bellingen, Coffs Harbour and Nambucca Heads Local Government Areas (LGAs). These positions are offered on a fixed‐term basis until 30 June 2031. The role requires willingness to travel within the region and participation in a 24/7 on‐call phone roster shared across the team, with allowances paid under the SCHADS Award. Successful candidates will work flexibly between 6am and 8pm on weekdays as needed to respond to families' needs.

This position sits within Blue Sky's Families Together Service funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice under the Family Preservation Program.

Family Practitioners will:
* keep children safe at home with their families, preventing removal, entry into Out of Home Care, and future involvement with the child protection system
* work intensively with children and families using strengths‐based, trauma‐informed, and child‐centred practice to build safety, stability, and long‐term resilience
* assess and respond to child safety and wellbeing risks, including domestic and family violence, alcohol and other drug use, and emerging family crises
* develop, implement, and review family‐led case plans, supporting improved outcomes in parenting capacity, education, health, and overall wellbeing
* coordinate and collaborate with DCJ and community partners to deliver integrated, timely, and effective support for families
* maintain accurate case documentation and contribute to program outcomes, ensuring compliance with Families Together requirements, performance indicators, and reporting timeframes
Who We Are Looking For
* a relevant tertiary qualification (or progress toward one) in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience delivering trauma‐informed, family‐centred support to vulnerable children and families
* a First Aid Certificate (or willingness to undertake training)
* a willingness to travel within the local area to support families
* the ability to consistently align behaviours, attitudes, and conduct with the organisation's values, culture, and Code of Conduct
* a strong working knowledge of Family Preservation systems and the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ)
* a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
* the ability to quickly learn, adapt to, and proficiently use information and communication technology systems, including the Microsoft suite, client management systems, and databases
* the capability and willingness to confidently and accurately promote the Families Together program, including its goals, activities, processes, and functions
* a friendly, kind, and positive approach, with a strong can‐do attitude
* a desire not only to meet expectations, but to consistently exceed them
* highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to work efficiently and effectively
