Employment type: Full time, Fixed Term position (2 year contract)

Hours per week: 38

Remuneration: Band 6 salary from $104,133.36 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO

Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement

About the Role

The Senior Sport & Recreation Development Officer is responsible for supporting the effective management and activation of Wyndham's sport and recreation services, helping to create positive participation opportunities for the community and support the sustainable growth of local sporting clubs.

Working closely with sporting clubs, peak bodies, schools and community stakeholders, the position focuses on building strong relationships, improving service delivery and ensuring Council's sporting facilities are managed and utilised effectively.

The role also contributes to strategic projects, policy development and initiatives that enhance community participation and support the future planning of sport and recreation across Wyndham.

As part of a collaborative team, the successful candidate will provide professional advice, contribute to process improvements and help deliver responsive, customer-focused outcomes for the community.

What your day will look like

* Building strong relationships with sporting clubs, schools, community groups and key stakeholders to support participation and club development outcomes.
* Coordinating seasonal allocations, casual bookings and facility use to ensure Council's sporting facilities are utilised effectively and efficiently.
* Identifying opportunities to improve processes, streamline workflows and enhance customer experience across sport and recreation services.
* Providing advice and guidance to support consistent, responsive and customer-focused service delivery.
* Contributing to sport and recreation projects, policies and strategic initiatives that support Wyndham's growing community.
* Supporting the establishment and development of local sporting clubs through Council frameworks and programs.
* Representing Council at meetings, forums and community events, advocating for positive sport and recreation outcomes.

What you will bring

* Qualifications in Sport Management, Recreation Planning, Community Development or a related discipline, with relevant experience in sport and recreation, community development or local government environments. Equivalent extensive industry experience will also be considered.
* Experience working with sporting clubs and community organisations to support participation, strengthen capability and deliver positive community outcomes.
* Demonstrated experience in sport and recreation development, including working with clubs and community organisations to build capacity and increase participation.
* Well-developed understanding of sport and recreation operations, including facility management and community access within a local government context.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with a diverse range of internal and external partners.
* Demonstrated experience in leading and coordinating projects or programs, applying sound project management principles to deliver effective and sustainable outcomes.
* A current Driver's Licence and Working with Children Check.
