Role Overview This role involves working closely with our ecology team and leaders to provide technical and business leadership, shaping the future of Arup’s ecology services in Victoria. You will help set strategic directions, lead complex ecological assessments, and manage statutory approval processes across transport, water, and energy projects. Arup is known for resolving biodiversity and statutory issues, integrating natural capital into financial disclosures, and pioneering nature-led design. This position offers an opportunity to expand on these achievements and lead initiatives for nature-positive outcomes. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic ecological advice and support for large, complex projects. Lead and deliver ecological assessments in Victoria and support similar projects nationally, managing resources efficiently. Drive the growth and strategic direction of Arup’s ecology team in Victoria. Lead project bidding and business development efforts. Collaborate with business leaders to secure work and contribute to multidisciplinary proposals. Manage client relationships and represent Arup in Victoria and potentially nationally. Candidate Profile Industry experience in major transport, water infrastructure, or renewable energy projects within consulting or government sectors. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science, or related fields. Understanding of planning and biodiversity legislation in Victoria and Australia, including the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Excellent communication skills, capable of translating ecological complexities into clear outcomes. Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
