Senior Developers - AI-Powered EdTech Platform | Expression of Interest |Remote (Australia)

We're building something genuinely exciting at the University of New England, and we're looking for brilliant people to help us do it.

I'm Connor Ventura, Engineering/Project Manager of LabNext70 (LN70). We are UNE's innovation lab operating with the agility of a startup, backed by the stability of an established institution. Our mission is to build a next generation learning management system from the ground up, purpose-built for modern education.

What we're building:

While other platforms bolt on AI features as an afterthought, we've built ours with large language models at the core. Our LMS enables educators to create truly interactive learning experiences. Think role-play scenarios, personalised teaching pathways, intelligent memory systems, and simulated environments that actually work.

We've developed systems we believe to be world-firsts in this space. This isn't a proof of concept; we've already built many of these systems with proven results. It's a polished, production-ready platform with global ambitions, designed to serve universities, private industry, and everyone in between who needs a modern approach to education, upskilling, and onboarding.

The foundation is strong. Now we need exceptional developers to help us scale up and get the application ready for public release (and beyond).

What we're looking for:

We're seeking expressions of interest from senior developers who thrive across the full development lifecycle. The ideal candidates are "T-shaped", having deep expertise in one or more areas, with the capability and willingness to work across the stack as needs evolve.

Core Technical Requirements:

Strong proficiency in Python and Django

Solid experience with AWS (ECS, Bedrock, EFS, Docker - you should feel at home here)

Demonstrated experience building applications that integrate with large language models via API (Anthropic Claude, Google models, or similar)

Commercial application development experience, where you've shipped real products used by real people.

What sets you apart:

Experience delivering at scale within enterprise environments or organisations with sophisticated tech ecosystems.

A track record of working on commercial products, not just prototypes or research projects

Adaptability - you're a software engineer first, comfortable pivoting between backend development, infrastructure, and new challenges as the project evolves

Certifications are a bonus (AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Developer Associate, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional, or similar)

We're not looking for:

Pure data scientists or ML researchers

Candidates seeking exclusively DevOps/infrastructure roles

Those who prefer rigid specialisation over versatile contribution

About the team:

You'll be joining an established technical team consisting of a Project Lead, Lead Senior Developer, mid-to-senior developers, and junior developers. This is a collaborative group that genuinely supports one another. One of the senior roles may also involve supporting agile ceremonies and ticket management alongside development work, depending on your interests and strengths.

LN70 has cultivated an environment that's easily the best I've worked in. No egos, no drama, just passionate people who are excited about what we're building and eager to see ideas come to life each week. We value creativity, listen to every perspective, and give our developers the freedom to craft elegant solutions.

The details:

Location: Remote (Australia-based). Our campuses are in Armidale and Parramatta if you ever want an office, but there's no expectation to relocate or commute.

Type of Engagement and Hours: Engagement type and hours will be confirmed based on project requirements and candidate availability. Full-time or substantial part-time hours expected during standard business days (Monday-Friday).

Compensation: We invest in top-tier talent. Remuneration is competitive and commensurate with demonstrated expertise and capability, structured at the top of our Enterprise Agreement framework for developers who deliver exceptional results.

Start: As soon as possible

To Express your Interest: Please apply via LinkedIn by submitting a copy of your CV

If you're a senior developer who's excited by the intersection of AI and education, who wants to build something meaningful with genuine global potential, and who values working with a team that actually enjoys collaborating, we'd love to hear from you.

Feel free to share this with anyone in your network who might be a great fit.
