The Role
The Superintendent Product Quality will support the Manager Product Quality in maintaining and improving a robust quality management system (QMS) to provide strong assurance of processes and products for the business.
This position will support both the lithium hydroxide refinery in Kwinana, and the spodumene mine and concentrator in Mt Holland. This includes:
* Managing day-to-day assurance activities to support the operation & improvement of the QMS and delivering final product assessment and disposition outcomes
* Provide excellent leadership within the Product Quality (PQ) team, direct reports and stakeholders across the business
* Overseeing the quality of both spodumene concentrate and lithium hydroxide products
* Implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 certification, along with other standards to support excellence in operational standards and products
* Engaging with laboratories, operations, procurement and other relevant stakeholders to ensure all necessary processes are in place for quality management and product compliance requirements
* Identifying and developing areas requiring improvement
* Conduct quality assurance activities and maintain systems to ensure required deliverables are achieved
This is a full-time position based in Kwinana, with scheduled visits to Mt Holland site.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee quality of both spodumene concentrate and lithium hydroxide processes
* Ensure quality control and assurance systems are established, robust and followed by personnel
* Work closely with refinery, mine and concentrator stakeholders to improve assurance systems
* Apply technical aptitude to assess product quality risks and determine mitigations
* Review and contribute to procedures, training and implementation of critical inputs & operations influencing product(s) quality
* Coordinate & conduct product quality focussed process confirmations / critical control inspections
* Lead and coordinate investigations involving quality issues and customer complaints
* Coordinate & conduct process and packaging reviews, suspect product protocols, assess laboratory test results; and perform final product approvals
* Schedule, coordinate & conduct product quality focussed internal and external audits
* Ensure robust quality standards are applied and followed by purchasing, operations and laboratory personnel through Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting process
* Support the Manager Product Quality to manage the departmental budget and expenditure
* Ensure compliance with budget and expenditure protocols and procedures
* Actively demonstrate influential leadership within the business to maintain and improve operational excellence and high standards across the company
* Strong leadership skills, including providing technical and process direction and guidance for the PQ Team and other stakeholders as required
* All aspects of people leadership including recruitment, personnel development and performance management.
* Show initiative and take opportunities to expand cross discipline knowledge and skills particularly within areas of: financial, commercial, business strategy, workforce management, conflict resolution and negotiated driven outcomes
* Leading cross-site governance for product quality, ensuring standardisation of quality practices, consistent systems and quality maturity uplift across both sites.
* Champion organisational change, driving the adoption of improved processes, systems, standards and behaviours that support quality excellence
* Lead and oversee investigations into significant quality issues, systemic risks and customer complaints ensuring robust root cause analysis, corrective actions and organisational learning
Role Requirements
* Relevant tertiary qualifications – scientific or engineering degree preferred
* Degree qualification is not essential where extensive 10 year + experience aligned to role requirements can be demonstrated
* Valid driver’s license
* 5+ years in a leadership role
* 5+ years of Quality Management experience
* Strong knowledge of ISO 9001
* Strong working knowledge of quality management, preferably in a chemical/processing or similar industry
