Superkote Glass is a leading Australian-owned glass processing company, specialising in high-quality architectural and safety glass. We are currently seeking an experienced Furnace Operator to take ownership of our toughening furnace and play a key role in delivering safe, compliant, and consistently high-quality products.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes pride in precision, understands the importance of compliance, and is confident operating complex machinery in a fast-paced production environment.
About the Role
As Furnace Operator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation, testing, and maintenance of the toughening furnace, ensuring all glass is processed to Australian Standards and Superkote Glass quality expectations.
You will be trusted to run the furnace independently, monitor performance, conduct testing, and identify issues before they impact production.
Key Responsibilities
* Operating and programming the glass toughening furnace
* Conducting frag counts and test pieces in accordance with Australian Standards
* Ensuring all toughened glass meets AS/NZS 1288 and internal quality requirements
* Monitoring furnace performance and making process adjustments as required
* Troubleshooting faults and minimising downtime
* Carrying out routine cleaning, inspections, and basic maintenance
* Recording quality checks, tests, and production data accurately
* Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organised furnace area
* Working closely with production and quality teams to meet deadlines
Experience & Knowledge
* Previous experience in glass toughening or glass manufacturing
* Proven experience operating toughening furnaces, including programming and testing
* Strong understanding of Australian Standards (AS/NZS 1288)
* Experience with furnace troubleshooting and routine maintenance
* Solid understanding of safety requirements related to furnace operation and glass handling
