Job Summary
We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic and supportive team. The successful candidate will have a Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or equivalent science qualification, with previous experience as a Laboratory Technician in a secondary school highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare laboratory materials: Ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal in compliance with regulations.
* Maintain hazardous substance registers, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and emergency equipment.
* Conduct risk assessments, maintain accurate records, manage inventory, and assist with ordering chemicals and equipment.
* Clean, maintain laboratory apparatus, and set up materials for events such as Open Days.
* Collaborate with teaching staff to allocate materials, assist in classroom setup, and support practical lessons.
* Advise staff on the technical aspects of practical equipment, contribute to developing practical activities, and participate in process improvements and initiatives.
Requirements:
* Certificate IV Laboratory Techniques or equivalent science qualification.
* Previous experience as a Laboratory Technician in a secondary school.
* Knowledge of Safe Chemical storage and safe use of Laboratory equipment in accordance with current regulations.
* Highly competent in ICT and database management.
* High levels of organisational and team collaborative skills.
* Level 1 or 2 First Aid Certificate is desirable.
* Hold or willing to obtain an Employment Working With Children Check.
