The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (the Commission) was formed on 1 January 2019. We work to improve the lives of older people by maintaining the integrity of the aged care system.

As the single independent regulator of Australian Government aged care services, we offer a variety of interesting and challenging jobs across most capital cities.

About the Team

We are seeking experienced senior communications professionals to join our dynamic external communications team.

You are adept at developing and leading communications strategies focused on delivering clear outcomes.

It is an exciting time to join the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, following major reforms to improve aged care in Australia. You will be contributing to our role as the national regulator to protect the safety, security and dignity of older Australians accessing aged care services.

About the Role

We are looking to fill three (3) ongoing roles to boost our capacity to deliver a challenging and complex communications program to support the aged care sector.

Working within a team of communications professionals, the successful candidates will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of wide-ranging communications strategies and producing quality content tailored for stakeholders across the aged care sector.

One of the three roles will be responsible for leading the management of our National Aged Care Provider Conference 2026, working closely with our external conference service provider.

Position Duties

* Communications design: Lead the design, delivery and evaluation of communications strategies, projects and activities
* Content development: Produce quality content for communications products with a focus on clear, simple messaging tailored to different audiences. This includes translating complex, technical information into plain language and adopting a user-centred approach to developing content for a range of products and audiences.
* Editing and proofreading: Provide quality editing and proofreading services across the organisation.
* Planning and monitoring: Contribute to communications planning and reporting, and the ongoing review of progress and priorities.
* Reporting: Collate, record and report on communications activities, providing both qualitative and quantitative information to contribute to continuous improvement.
* Positive working relationships: Develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Contribute to overall team performance: Actively contribute to the strategic development and implementation of the Commission's communications program

Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria):

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:

Demonstrated experience in the design, development and delivery of communications products and activities.

Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of complex communications projects.

Excellent attention to detail, proof-reading and copy-editing skills (strong grammar and spelling) including experience in translating complex information into plain English.

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop productive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated initiative in identifying and resolving problems or complex issues and working collaboratively to develop solutions.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while balancing competing tasks and priorities.

Demonstrated experience in planning and managing conferences, events or large-scale functions (conference role)

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or similar field and/or minimum 7 years' experience in similar roles.

Position Notes:

* Salary offered will be between $122,620- 139,850 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

* Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
