Position Information
Alstonville High School is a fully comprehensive school of over 500 students, with 8% Aboriginal and Torres Strait student enrolment, 50 teaching and 12 non-teaching staff, located in the village of Alstonville, halfway between Lismore and Ballina, in the hinterland of the north coast of NSW. We work together to provide excellent and inclusive learning opportunities to support the growth and attainment of each of our students. We support our students' aspirations to grow into confident and creative citizens, resilient in the face of the breadth of challenges they will face throughout their lives. Our school provides a safe and challenging learning environment. These strong community links have always enhanced the success of our students. Note that the successful applicant for this position will be required to teach in our Elevate (middle school) program.
Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach English and Drama, with a willingness to teach additional humanities subjects as required.
2. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively to support and re-engage students with significant wellbeing needs, fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
3. Proven ability to apply educational theory to middle-school practice to maximise the learning outcomes of disengaged students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
