* 1 x Ongoing Full Time
* 1 x Temporary Full Time up to 30 May 2027.
* Location Eveleigh with flexible working arrangements available across NSW Department of Education offices.

* Competitive remuneration ranging from $129,464 to $142,665 plus super & annual leave loading.

Join our team to shape and maintain large, enterprise-grade systems that drive the Department's objectives.

You'll oversee all technical stages of the software development lifecycle, applying your design, analysis, and programming expertise to create and enhance complex programs and prototypes.

This role ensures fit-for-purpose solutions through proactive analysis and corrections, designs and conducts acceptance testing (including user acceptance support), and provides ongoing third-level support by monitoring trends and coordinating with external providers.

You will contribute to ICT planning (capacity, security, disaster recovery), maintain thorough system documentation, and deliver specialist guidance and operational reports to management. You'll support complex ICT projects across diverse stakeholders, promptly escalate risks, and stay current with industry trends and technologies.

About you

* Demonstrated experience in one or more large scale enterprise technologies with experience in supporting application maintenance, platform upgrades for legacy systems, incident management and investigations.
* Significant knowledge of design, development, and testing of applications based on object-oriented programming languages.
* Sound working knowledge of IT service management principles and frameworks including ITIL, process tools, frameworks, and best practice methods.
* Experience in front-end development using VueJS, React or Angular.
* Experience in developing microservices using spring boot.
* Experience in developing Lambdas/APIs using Node.js
* Experience in building products in the cloud (AWS).
* Experience with AI-assisted development or coding tools would be highly regarded.
* Currency of and in-depth familiarity of databases such as Oracle and/or SQL Server.
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Explain your role in facilitating collaboration, the Agile practices, tools, or cloud-based platforms you used to ensure effective communication and coordination, and how this teamwork contributed to the successful and timely delivery of the project. * Share an example of a project where you prioritised service levels and user experience as an Application Developer. Describe the steps you took to ensure the application met or exceeded service level agreements (SLAs) or user expectations. Also explain any performance optimisation or scalability strategies you implemented, and how these improvements positively impacted application performance and user satisfaction. (300 words maximum)
