About the Opportunity
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Patient Flow and Virtual Nurse provides expert clinical leadership and consultancy across patient flow and interfacility transfers throughout Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). This district‐wide role supports clinicians across multiple sites and integrates clinical leadership, patient consultancy, education, research, and service planning to deliver high‐quality, evidence‐based, patient‐centred care. Working within the MLHD Patient Flow and Transport Unit, the CNC will provide clinicians with expert advice on safe patient care progression, appropriate treatment, and access to specialist referral pathways, including virtual support where required.
Responsibilities
* Providing expert clinical consultancy and guidance across the Patient Flow Unit and broader MLHD services to support safe, timely, and patient‐centred care
* Facilitating and coordinating interfacility transfers during operational hours and advising on the most appropriate mode of transport
* Role‐modelling exemplary care practices and promoting evidence‐based practice
* Leading and supporting clinical service reviews, development of models of care, and implementation of best‐practice pathways
* Contributing to research, service improvement initiatives, and evaluation of complex clinical care needs
* Developing, implementing, and coordinating professional education programs related to patient flow and virtual nursing support

About You
* Minimum 5 years full‐time equivalent post‐registration experience, including at least 3 years in a critical care environment
* Post‐registration nursing or midwifery qualifications relevant to the field of appointment
* Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* A strong understanding of the five Clinical Nurse Consultant domains
* Excellent communication, leadership and consultancy skills
* Commitment to continuous learning, research and service improvement
