About the business Our client is a large-scale agricultural processing facility specialising in cotton ginning operations. The ginnery operates high-capacity mechanical plant and industrial equipment during peak production seasons and requires skilled tradespeople to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations. Your role The Fitter will support the maintenance and operation of ginnery plant and equipment. This full-time role involves preventative maintenance, breakdown response and mechanical fitting work to ensure reliability of machinery during peak ginning periods and throughout the off-season maintenance program. Key Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repairs on ginnery plant and equipment Overhaul, assemble and maintain mechanical components such as bearings, gearboxes, shafts, chains and drive systems Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimise downtime during ginning operations Carry out alignment, fitting and adjustment of mechanical equipment and rotating machinery Assist with off-season rebuilds, overhauls and upgrades of ginnery equipment Inspect plant and equipment to identify wear, damage or potential failures Work with conveyors and bulk material handling systems for cotton lint and seed movement Maintain maintenance records and complete job documentation Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements in a high-dust industrial environment Skills and Experience Required Cert IV in Mechanical Engineering Trade or equivalent Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical fitting within industrial, manufacturing or agricultural processing environment. Exposure to cotton ginning, or similar highly regarded. Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capabilities Salary $76,515 to $80,000 per year plus superannuation
